Working within the Internal Sales Department and reporting to the Export Sales Manager, you will be the “voice and face” of the company, within key strategic countries, promoting and selling our products, across a number of mediums.

AMG Group strengthens Board of Directors

One of the UK’s leading owners and distributors of outdoor, footwear and snow sports brands, AMG Group, has announced it is strengthening its senior leadership team with a series of internal promotions and new appointments.

The announcement follows a strong financial year for the Port Glasgow based company. The re-structuring of AMG Group’s Senior Leadership Team is intended to support continued expansion and drive forward the company’s growth plans. AMG Group, whose portfolio includes Vango®, F10 Series®, Lichfield®, Blacks of Greenock®, Rossignol®, Trangia®, Wayfayrer®, Teko® and Anatom® are pioneers in the marketplace with leading products such as Vango Airbeam® technology. As part of the senior staff changes, Stephen Newlands will assume the role of CEO. In this new role, Stephen, who has been at the forefront of managing the business for 16 years, will oversee the company’s strategic direction and ensure the business is set up for success in an increasingly competitive and challenging market.

Group Sales and Marketing Director, Derek Bowen has been promoted to the role of Managing Director and will lead the company through its next phase of innovation and growth. Derek joined the team in August 2017 with over 25 years’ experience in the outdoor and footwear industries. His new role is to oversee all business operations and build revenue through the development and implementation of innovative brand strategies and product development.

Glenn Andrews will move from his current role as Product and Development Director to the role of non-executive Director. In his new role, Glenn will assist the board with the development of the company’s future strategies for growth.

After being with the business for almost 28 years, Steve Craig will retire from his role as Commercial Director at the end of 2018. Shona Quigley, who joined the business at the start of this year as Chief Financial Officer, will take over from Steve on his retirement. Shona will lead the financial and commercial business efforts and work closely with the new Board of Directors, helping to build market share.

Rob Birrell, 15 years with AMG, and Head of Marketing has been promoted to the role of Marketing Director. Rob will have overall responsibility for brand strategy, marketing and creative functions, driving awareness and increased revenue.

Mike Wise is promoted to the role of UK Sales Director. Mike has risen through the ranks of the business having spent 12 years in a variety of sales roles prior to this appointment. In his new role, Mike will devise and implement a strategic sales plan, supervise regional sales managers and mentor his growing team of 15.

Also, internally promoted, Martin Jones will take on the role of Product Director after having worked for the company’s product development team for over 15 years. Martin will lead the product category teams, delivering innovation through the conception and launch of new products. Speaking about the restructuring, Stephen Newlands, said: “We are delighted to expand our senior team and welcome our new appointments. AMG Group Appoint New CFO

AMG Group Appoint Chief Financial Officer and Increase Staff by 15%

AMG Group, one of the UK’s leading Outdoor Companies, announce a raft of new appointments this Quarter, continuing its growth plans for 2018.

Shona Quigley comes on board as Chief Financial Officer, with a further 4 appointments in the Sales, Design and Creative Teams. The new Distribution Centre (DC) facility sees the largest increase with 9 members of staff signing permanent contracts.

The 14 new recruits see the business increase its staff by 15%, taking the total across all three business sites (Port Glasgow HQ, AMG Services Glasgow and Westway Park DC) to 113 permanent employees.

AMG distributes its portfolio of Vango®, F10 Series®, Lichfield®, Blacks of Greenock®, Rossignol®, Trangia®, Wayfayrer®, Anatom® and Teko® to over 40 countries worldwide and recently opened the Westway DC to meet demand.

The opening of the Westway DC, a bespoke 113,209 ft² property, has driven staff expansion and will allow AMG to distribute from one central location, streamlining their operation for retailers and consumers. The new site means the DC Team will increase by 9 to 23 permanent staff, focusing on Inbound & Outbound logistics.

In addition to Shona Quigley, AMG bring in James Robertson as Graphic & Film Designer, Jason Gilmour as Assistant Product Manager and Stacey Cummings as Web & E-Commerce Assistant. Daniel Julier-Smith has been appointed as Southern Territory Account Manager in UK.

AMG Announce New Distribution Centre Facility

AMG Group, one the UK’s leading outdoor companies, have announced that they are moving to a new Distribution Centre (DC) located at Westway Park, Renfrew. The Westway site, anticipated to be operational by April 2018, will replace AMG’s three existing DCs, two sites owned by AMG and located in Port Glasgow and a 3rd Party operation, located in the Midlands.

The 4,500,000 ft3property, will allow AMG to distribute from one central location, streamlining their operation for retailers and consumers. The new site will enable the business to realise future growth plans and achieve its full potential.

Westway Park is a direct response to a year of continued expansion for AMG. 2017 kicked off with the license of Anatom® and Teko®, increasing the group’s portfolio to nine brands in total. In addition, the business recorded another strong year for exports, as recognised in the HSBC Sunday Times Track 200 league table. AMG, listed for a second consecutive year and placed at 114th, were one of only ten Scottish businesses in the table.

The move will begin in January 2018 with AMG highlighting Q1 to be a transitional period for the business.

Bernie McGown, HR & Operations Director at AMG, said: ‘Whilst moving sites is a huge logistical challenge for us, it will allow us to provide first-class service to all of our customers; domestic and international alike. We have had a Project Team working on this for several months and would like to reassure our customers that we will do everything possible to minimize disruption during the move, bearing in mind that during Q1’18, we shall be effectively operating from 4 sites.’

McGown added, ‘We value our staff and their exceptional skills. When we move, we are taking them with us'. McGown highlighted that existing staff based at the Port Glasgow DCs will be transported to and from the new site by mini bus. By keeping the same team together, it will ensure ‘the business retains their invaluable tacit knowledge’.

The new facility will see an increased headcount from 14 to a permanent team of 23, focusing on Inbound & Outbound logistics, which will enable AMG to consolidate orders and despatch them from one site, resulting in a single consignment being delivered to customers.

As a consequence of the DC relocation, AMG’s legendary Green Room facility, shall relocate to Head Office, Port Glasgow, in 2019.

AMG currently employ 98 staff; the Finance, IT, Marketing, Product, Sales & Supply Chain Teams will remain in Head Office, where the business has been based for 20 years.

AMG distributes its portfolio of Vango®, F10 Series®, Lichfield®, Blacks of Greenock®, Rossignol®, Trangia®, Wayfayrer®, Anatom® and Teko® to over 40 countries worldwide.

AMG Group, one of the UK’s leading outdoor companies, has obtained the global licence to represent footwear brand Anatom® and award-winning Teko® socks. AMG has also recruited renowned footwear specialist Gordon Fraser as their Footwear Consultant.

 

Fraser, who founded Anatom in 1994 will join AMGin January 2017 and brings over 25 years of footwear expertise, specialising in biomechanics and physiology of the foot. Both Anatom footwear and Teko socks have received a multitude of accolades and awards for excellence in the last few years and are welcome additions to AMG. Most recently, Teko socks collected the Innovation Award and Eco-Performance Award at ISPO 2016 and Anatom has a long history in pioneering innovative footwear products and ideas. 

 

Fraser, as part of his new role within AMG, will also spearhead the development of Vango’s own range of footwear, which carries recommended kit status for both the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Scout Association. Fraser will also assist in the development and expansion of the industry leading footwear training platform Anatom Academy®, for the benefit of all brands and their retail partners.

 

The addition of the two brands will increase AMG’s portfolio by approximately 20%, adding to AMG’s current portfolio: Vango®, F10 Series®, Lichfield®, Blacks of Greenock®, Rossignol®, Trangia® and Wayfayrer®.

MANAGEMENT BUYOUT AT AMG GROUP

Scotland based AMG Group Ltd, owner of Vango, one of Europe’s leading camping, footwear and outdoor equipment brands, has today announced that after ownership by the Moodie family for almost 50 years, directors Stephen Newlands, Managing Director; Steve Craig, Commercial Director; and Glenn Andrews, Product Director have successfully completed a management buyout of the company.

AMG’s brand portfolio includes the UK’s best selling tent and camping equipment range, Vango, the iconic high performance expedition and mountaineering collection, Force Ten and Lichfield family camping products.

The company also distributes Rossignol winter sports equipment, Asolo footwear, Trangia camping stoves, Wayfayrer camping foods and an innovative new, gel based bio fuel known as Fuel4.

AMG Services Division, which services and repairs all brands of tent and is the only business of its kind still left in the UK, is also included in the deal.

Speaking today, Sandy Moodie commented that he was extremely proud of the team at AMG, and delighted to be handing over full control to the management buyout team who have been so instrumental to AMG’s rapid growth in recent years.

Moodie said: “Stephen, Steve and Glenn have been the driving force behind our business for many years. They have the energy and enthusiasm to take the business to new heights and it is fitting that they should benefit from their very significant contributions.”

Moodie will remain a director of AMG and will retain a minority shareholding in the company.

Camping and outdoor brand Vango signs deal to become official supplier of Recommended Kit for the Scout Association

The Scotland-based business has worked with The Scout Association on an approved range of products from its portfolio of brands including Vango, Wayfayrer, Trangia and Fuel 4. The Scout movement is the UK’s largest mixed youth organisation committed to providing life changing adventures for young people aged 6-25.

The range of tents, sleeping bags, rucksacks, footwear, stove systems, fuels and food approved have been selected to match the needs of all age groups from Beavers right up to Scout leaders. This will help Scouts and their families choose performance led, quality kit that’s right for their outdoor activities.
Selected equipment, from the extensive AMG portfolio, will carry the “recommended by Scouts” logo and will feature on all equipment lists supplied by The Scout Association to its members.

FUEL4 APPOINTS AMG GROUP AS THEIR NEW UK DISTRIBUTOR

Geco Industries, the of producers of Fuel4, are pleased to announce that with immediate effect, they have appointed AMG Group as their new UK distributor.

Fuel4, a UK manufactured environmentally friendly bioethanol spirit and gel fuel, will partner with the Trangia brand in the AMG portfolio. With product and packaging development due in the near future to support this collaboration, AMG anticipate further partnerships for Fuel4 early in 2014 to support its growth and expansion. In addition Fuel4 offers an ideal alternative to Methylated spirits, which will become increasingly difficult to retail as a result of recent changes in legislation by HMRC.

VANGO RUBS SHOULDERS WITH ROYALTY

His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex was The Camping and Caravanning Club’s guest of honour at Windsor Great Park on Tuesday 24 July.
As a trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE), HRH helped commemorate The Duke of Edinburgh’s 60th anniversary as Patron of The Camping and Caravanning Club by presenting Vango DofE recommended kit to young people from Wexham School, Slough who will be starting their DofE programmes in September.
 
Stephen Newlands, Vango's Group Managing Director, said; "We are delighted to be involved in celebrating His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh's 60th anniversary as the Club’s Patron. As long term partners of The Camping and Caravanning Club and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, it is such a great privilege to be able to support young people as they progress through their DofE programmes."
 
The Club is working with Vango to provide camping equipment 'starter packs' as a gift to each of the 10 DofE Regions across the country.  Each starter pack consists of tents, cookers, sleeping bags, rucksacks, trek mats, compasses and cutlery sets.
